VIÑA SANTA CRUZ TO HOST OLD-STYLE CHAMPIONSHIP / APRIL 2007
International competition will include 50 antique carriages

For the fourth consecutive year, Viña Santa Cruz will receive some 50 antique carriages that will compete in the “International Carriage Competition” on April 28–30. The activity organized by the Colchagua Carriage Association and the Equestrian Coach Commission of Chile, will feature a colonial and traditional Chilean air with participants wearing the traditional dress of the era.

The competition will take place on a field especially adapted for the occasion and will consist of a ride through the area estates—called fundos—La Pradera, La Isla, and Viña Santa Cruz, where the national and international competitors will be required to perform a series of trials and comply with the regulations of the Equestrian Federation of Chile. An international jury will judge the test of reins, skill, and handling between cones and evaluate the presentation of the coaches, gear, and dress of the carriages and assistants.
The 2007 version of the event will also include a show of typical dishes, local products, tastings of Viña Santa Cruz Chamán and Gran Chamán wines, and an exhibition of local crafts.
